Michael Chandler: MMA and UFC Career
A three-time Bellator champion, Chandler made the jump to the UFC in 2021, starting with a first-round stoppage win over Hooker. Given his star status, that was enough to earn him a shot at the vacant title against Oliveira. Chandler came close to winning, rocking the Brazilian before eventually submitting in the second round.
In November, he had the fight of the year against Gaethje, losing on points.
In 2022, he scored a victory over Ferguson, beautifully knocking out the veteran with a front kick, but was unable to secure a second victory in a row, losing to Poirier via choke in the third round in November.
Chandler missed 2023, and in 2024 he limited himself to an unsuccessful return in a rematch with Oliveira, this time losing on points.

Paddy Pimblett: career in MMA and UFC
Pimblett made his professional debut in 2012 at the age of 17, and his main achievement before joining the UFC was the Cage Warriors featherweight title. He also fought for the lightweight belt there, but was unsuccessful.
Pimblett began competing in the UFC in September 2021 and has won all 6 fights in the promotion to date. His main victories were over veterans Ferguson and Green , and the upcoming fight will be Paddy's first against a top-10 opponent.

Although Chandler's UFC record of 2 wins and 4 losses is not impressive at all, it is not the quantity that matters, but the quality, and the American has only lost to the top fighters. Pimblett is not one of them yet.
Despite his age, Michael is still good in the cage, having a strong wrestling base and a hard punch. There may be questions about his functionality, but not earlier than the championship rounds. On the other hand, it was in the 5th round of the previous fight against Oliveira that the American almost snatched an early victory, finding strength when it was necessary.
Pimblett is strong in grappling, but it will be very difficult for him to take Chandler to the ground, at least in the first half of the fight.
